Формула изобретения

claiin: 1. The combination in aii appai-attis foidryipg, or shrinl@ino, cloth of a casing; a carrier havin- a series of girts upon wliieli the clotli is 7ooped,; a roller arranged to 15 enter the space Detween two girts and to hold the cloth to the girts; means for turning the girts; and means for raising and lowerin,- the roller. 2. The combination of a casing; an end20 1 ess carrier; rails upon which the carrier travels, each carrier consisting of side. chains and transverse bars bein; girts moulited on the bars, said girts g of a (,rreater diameter than the bars; short rails whiel-i raise the girts so that they turn freely, independently of the bars; levers actuated by a 1,634,853 siicceeding girt; and a roller inounted Oil the levers and arrantred to be raised by the succeedin- -ii-t. and to be lowered betiveen a pair of giris so as to hold the cloth against 3o the girts iii order that it inay turn %iitli, tb6.. girts. 3. The combinat-ion of a ca5ing- rails at caell side thereof; a carrier cons'istin- of two chains spaced apart; bars coin@e(Tting s5 the chains, @aid ellains traveling on rails-' giits loosely mounte'd on the bars, said girts beiii- of a. greater diameter than the bars; shor@t- elevated rails in the path of the girts so that the - irts are raised clear of the bars 40 ;ind are tu@ned as they tra%7el on the sliort 1-ails; pivoted levers liavin- slotted arrins; a roller liaving triinnions mounted in the slots of the arms, said roller bein- located so as to drop between two girts ana to hold 4 r, the material to tl)e girts; and a cam on eacli lever in' the path of the girts as they travel toivards tlii elevated rails, the slots in tlle bars allowin- the roller to travel witli tlib carrieir a gi@en distance to insure the turn.. r)o ing of the material with the girts. Patented Apr. 21, .1925. 11534,853 .UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE. ALPHEUS 0. HURXTHAL, OF PHILADELPHIA, PFNNSYLVANIA, ASSIGNOR TO PROCTOR & SCHWARTZ, INCORPORATED, OF PHILADELRHIA, PENNSYLVANIA, A COIRPORATION OF PENNSYLVANIA. LOOP DRIER. Application filed November 10, 1924. Serial No. 749,095. Y'o al( tvllom it q2zf@?l colicer@t., Be it known that I, ALPRM,-US 0. I-IURX'FIIAL, a citizen of the Uiiited States, resid-, iiig iii Pliiladelpliia,, Peiinsylvania,, liave iiiveiited certain Improveii-ielits in Loop Driers, of which the followilig is a specification. My invention relates to certain iiiipro-\,eiiienis in driers of the type in \vhich ihe maiO terial to be dried is suspended in loops from girts, -vvhich travel througli a dr@@yiin.-I cliamber in wbich heated air is circulated. The object o.f the invention is to provide i@ieans for shifting th6 cloth, or other material, su@pended from the girts so that it will not , be r@arked by the -irts. When used in connection - \vith a shi@inking macliine, the slirinlcage is uniform throughout tlie entire lencrth of.tlie clotli. 20 This object I attain by turning thp, material' positively With the girts as it passes througli the drier. In the accon-ipanying drawings: Fig.-I is a Ion,-itudinal sectional view of 25 one end of a loop drier illustrating my itivention; Fio,. 2 is tri enlarged sectional' view, sho,Wlng a roller located between two -irts and enga-ino, the material bei ng clried .30 ii"ig. @ @s @'-view, similar to Fig. 2, show-. ing the roller raised - Fig. 4 is a viev7 showing the roller locatedbetween another pair of erts and tra*eling' with th(,@ material35 Fig.,5 is a transverse sectional -view, showing a girt and its catrier; Fiz. 6 is a @lan view of one of the rollers; and Vig. 7 is a, detached perspective view of 40 one of the levers. Referring to the drawings, 1 is the casing of a drier, wl@ich encloses a drying chamber a, in wliieh he,,ited air is eircutated in the ordinary maiiner. An endless car45 rier'2 travels throughout the length of the drier and consfsts of chaiiis 3 ancl conneeting bars 1, wlach are @ubular in forin, as sliown in tlie@@ aiawings. Mounted on the chains are rollet@ 6, which travel on tracks 50 6 in the forrn- 6.f ,tnole -irons. The chains pass around )rocket wheels 7 that are shown by dotted lines in. Fig. 1. The car- I rier is driv,en in any -:..-i@;uitable manner. Mounted on - ch transvl-@rse bar are'tubular ea ),irt s 8, ii,hich are laraer tliaii the bars to 55 alloa v tl)e girts freedom of moi, eiiient. The mtiterial x to be dried is forilied in' loop s, as sliown in Fig. 1, the loops beiiig stisp ended fron-i the girts 8 . As the material is carried tlirougli the drier by the end- 60 less carrier, the heated ,tir in eirculatidn dries it. The material is removed from the girts at the discharge end, of the drier . (as sho wn in Fig 1) and is passed over a guidero'll er 9 and a drum 10. 65 To prevent marldna of the material at tha points where it ;@sts upon the girts, mear is are provided for, turniiig the girts and the material at two or more places thro ughout the length of the drying cham- 7( ber. I n cloth shrinking machines, the position of the m@terial is changed so that the fabri c will shrink evenly. At certain points throughout the lengtll 7, 5 of the drying ebamber, rails 11 are provide d, which are in the path of the girts, and are so located that the girts are, kaised off of the cross bars 4: and travel over the rails @ which are bevelecl at each end, as in- 80 dicat ed ai 12. Lo cated above the rails is a roller 13, wliie h is shorter than the girts. This roller has trun-nions 14 that extend into slots 15 in arms 16 of the levers 17. The cross bars 85 18 are located iii a fixed position in the.casing 1 of thB drier. The levers 'are pivotally mounted on these cross'bars., Each lever has a cam projection 19 @in the path of the girts. As one of the o-irts passes uiider 90 the cam, the lover is rai$ed to elevate the rolle r andto allow the girt preceding it to pass under the roll,er, as in Fig. 3. After the girt passes under the roller, the roller drol)s betw een the two girts as itidicated in Fi(T 4 95 and the'material is held between 9, girt tnd the,r oller. As the crirts turn, tiley tiirn the mate rial and the roller, wbieli catises the mate rial to assume another I)ositioil on the girts. 100 Th e rollers are free to travel for -%vard wth the girts, as the trunnions of the roller trav el in the slots 15 of the levers 17. When th6 roller is moved to the positioii sho-wn in Fia. 2, another oirt comes in contact 105 with ihe cam surfac@ 19 of the levers and raise s the levers and the roller clear of tl-ie girts, the roller returning to the position

slioivil in Fig. 3, ready to enter the space between another pair of girts. By the construction liereiiibefore described, the clotli, or otlier material, is iiioved positively witli the gil-ts, wliicli do not slip under the cloth. This constructioii insures perfect drying of tlle material aind uiiiform slirinlcage, iviien the tippara-tiis is used in a cloth shrinking machine. lo
