claim: 1. In a chime clock, the combination with a chime countwheel driven by the ebimetrain of the clock, of an oscillating guardbo disk located adjacent to the said count-wheel and provided with four guard-finoers, one of Niliieh is elojigated, a chiii:ie cotint-lever coacting with the said wheel and disk, a, chiine-control wheel driven by the timetrain of the clock and having four operat- b5 ing-points, one of which is set outward to complement the elongated finger of the guard-disk, and operatin- connections betn tween the said chime-control wheel and co unt-lever. 60 2. In a chime clock, the combination with a, chime count-wheel driven by the chimetrai n of the clock, and having four chime-. dw ells separated by four stop-notches, of an osc illatin (y -uard-disk located adjacent to the 65 sai d wheel and having four guard-fingers a,rran ged to complement the said notches, one of the said fingers being longer t,han the oth ers, a chime count-lever coacting with the sai d wheel and disk, a chime-control wheel 70 dri ven by the time-train of the clock, and pr ovided with four pins, one of which is set out ward beyond the others to complement the elonga, ted finger of the guard-disk, and op erating connections between the said 75 chi me-control wheel and said lever. 3. In a chiine clock, the combination with a chime count-wheel driven by the ebimetrai n of the clock and forined with four chi me-dwells separated by four stop-notebes, 80 on e of the said dwells being formed at its for ward end with a sustaining-abutrnent, of an oscillating guard-disk located adjacent to the said wheel and formed with four guardfin gers complementing t,he said stop-notches, 85 on e of the s-,iid fin-ers being elongated tTid co actin- with the s-aid -,ust-,iinin--abutment, ,t chime col-iiit-lover coactit)- -with t-he said wh eel q,nd dislc, a, chime-control wlieel driven; by the time-trai.n of the cloelc -tnd provided 90 wit h four operat-ing-pins, one of whicli is set out ward to complement the elongated fin(,rer of the said disk, and operatin(y connections bet ween the said pins and lever. My invention relates to an improvement in cbime clocks the obj'ect being to provide simple, reliable, I and efficient means for syno'hroniziiig the time and i@hime trains the'reof in case the same should be throwii ollt Of 55 Un iSOn, as ncit infi-equent-ly happens, as by the failure to wind them seasonably, by settin g the hands or pointers of the cloc@ forwa rd or bacli-vvard, etc., the particular objec t of my invention beidg to reduce to the 60 mi niinuin the nuiiiber of parts required for r6s toring the time- and chime-trains to uni son. With these ends in view, niy ilivention co nsists in a chime clock having one of the 65 - uard-fingers of its oscillating chime countwh eel ouard-disk made longer tha,-n the tliree oth er Kngers thereof, and the corresponding hig h point of one of the four high-points 0 the chinie-control wlieel driven by the tilne- 70 trai n, made correspondingly higlier than the thr ee other hich points thereof, whereby, in cas e of the dislocation of the time-and chimetrai ns, the latter is not released until the for mer has brouglit the highest poitit of the 75 tim e-control Nvheel into play for - co-action - Nvith the longest finzer of the - -uard-disk. M y invention furt 'her consists-in certain det ails of cotistriietion and cornbinations of I)a rts as -will be hereinafter describe(I and 80 pai licularly poiiited out in the claims. 1,437,012 13 drawii t)ack iiito its noritial position, in whicli its stop-pin 43 engages the stop 44 on the fan-shaft 45. These quarter-hour attempts to release the chime-train will there. after be ineffectual until the hour pin 51, with its longer "throv@," has been brouglit into en-agement with the beveled end 50 of @m the arp-i 49 of the chime warning-lever 47, which, at this time, will be sufficiently lifted 10 to correspondingly lift the levers 42 and 38 and so lift the finger 37 sufficiently to permit the elongatecl finger 15 to snap under it and sustain it and the stop-pin 43 in position to perinit the chime-train to run and 15 chitne the hour. At this time, the pointers ,ire indicatincr the hour and the two trai.ns liave been restored to iinison ' In other words, t-he chimetrain has been liel(I restraine(i iintil the, time-train has caught up 20 with it. Thereafter, the t-,vo, trains will coordinate and operate iii unison until they are again dislocated in anv of the ways in which stich dislocation occur@ in chime clocks. In any event, it is impossible that 25 the chimes can be sounded out of time for more than threequarters of an hour, while it naay be that the chime will be sounded only once or twice out of time depending upon the degree of initial derangement. so Thus, by so simple an expedient as lengthening the hour guard-finger of the oscillatjncgr ouard-disk and correspondingly increasing zn the "throw" of the hour-pin of the chime-control wbeel, or member driven by 35 the time-train, T am enable(] to sui-moiint the d@ifficulties inei.deirit to the dislocation of the time and ellime-traitis of chiine clocks of tlie, ebaraeter to -whicli my irIlTentioll relates. in the particiilar embodiment of my in 40 vention chosen for illustration, tl-ie lioiir guard-finger has been chosen for eloiigation and the hoiir-pin positioned to effect a Ion-er Iltbrow," but, obviously, anv other finger an.d its complementary pin may be chosen, 45 if desired.
